According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he learned about the cancer during a test in 2024. However, he also mentioned in his post that he had become aware of the issue a year and a half ago, at which point he decided to seek treatment, while doctors have successfully treated the condition, and his current health status is reported to be better than before. Netanyahu stated that surgeons removed a small tumor, measuring one centimeter, during the procedure.

Explaining the delay in making this information public, Netanyahu wrote that he refrained from sharing it earlier because he feared Iran might spread fake news regarding his health. According to CNN, the Israeli Prime Minister underwent prostate-related surgery in December 2024, though it wasn't confirmed at that time that the surgery was for cancer. The treatment was conducted at the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
