IPL 2021 / Bharat hit a six off the last ball to give victory to RCB

In IPL 2021, the last match of the league was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals today. Where RCB defeated Delhi by 7 wickets in the last ball in a very exciting match. RCB needed 5 runs off the last ball of the match and Srikar Bharat hit a six to give the team a wonderful win.

Poor start for RCB

RCB got off to a poor start while chasing the target. On the 5th ball of the first over, Devdutt Padikkal returned to the pavilion after being dismissed for a 'golden duck'. On the first ball of the third over, the team lost the wicket of Captain Kohli (4). Enrique Nortya delivered both these shocks to Bengaluru. Delhi's third success was given by Axar Patel to de Villiers (26).

After losing the toss, playing first, DC got off to a great start. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw added 88 runs for the first wicket in 10 overs. This partnership was broken by Harshal Patel by dismissing Shikhar Dhawan (43). In the very next over, Yuzvendra Chahal took the wicket of Prithvi Shaw (48). Daniel Christian got the third success for RCB by dismissing Rishabh Pant (10). Mohammad Siraj dismissed Shreyas Iyer (18) and Shimron Hetmyer (29). Delhi scored 164/5 in 20 overs.

  • Shikhar Dhawan (2023) became the fourth player to score 2,000 runs for Delhi Capitals.
  • Shimron Hetmyer scored (29) off 22 balls. This was his best score in Phase 2.
  • Mohammad Siraj took 2 wickets for RCB.
  • DC's score is 88/0 in the first 10 overs and 76/4 in the last 10 overs.
  • The first qualifier will be played between Delhi-Chennai
Bengaluru had to bat after winning the toss to finish in the top-2 and beat Delhi by at least 163 runs, but the team decided to bowl first which meant that the first qualifiers of the tournament were Delhi Capitals and Chennai. The match between the Super Kings will be played in Dubai.

Hetmyer back in form

The good thing for Delhi Capitals from the playoffs is that the team's star player Shimron Hetmyer has returned to form. In this match he scored 29 runs in 22 balls. In the last match against CSK too, his bat had seen an unbeaten innings of 28 runs in 18 balls.

De Villiers could not hit fifty in seven innings

Once again AB de Villiers failed to play a big innings. He got a start against Delhi but he could not convert it into a big innings. In the match, de Villiers was dismissed after scoring 26 runs off 26 balls. So far in Phase-2, his bat has been seen silent. Even in the last seven innings, he has not got even a half-century with the bat. The eliminator is not a good sign for Kohli and Co before the match.

Bengaluru will once again have hopes from Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell is in terrific form in the second phase of IPL. He has scored 447 runs in 13 matches so far this season. Along with this, he has also taken 3 wickets. Virat Kohli will have high hopes from this player in the last league match. Bengaluru will have to win a big win against Delhi to be in the top-2 of the league. In such a situation, all these players will have to throw everything in the match.
