An all-party delegation led by Shashi Tharoor met the Prime Minister of Guyana. Prime Minister Phillips welcomed India's investment and condemned terrorism. Tharoor, Tejasvi Surya and Milind Deora praised India-Guyana relations and support on Operation Sindoor.

Shashi Tharoor: A new chapter has been added to the bilateral relations between India and Guyana. An all-party Indian delegation led by Congress MP Dr. Shashi Tharoor recently made a state visit to Guyana. During this visit, the delegation met Guyana's Prime Minister Brigadier (Retd) Mark Anthony Phillips, Vice President and several other top officials. This visit was not only important at the diplomatic level, but also became a means to present India's anti-terrorism stance more strongly on the global stage.

Guyana's Prime Minister expressed confidence in India

Guyana's Prime Minister Mark Anthony Phillips spoke of a strong partnership with India after meeting with the Indian delegation. He categorically said, "We welcome investments from Indian companies. Cooperation has grown in the last few years and it will continue to grow. We welcome the visit of Indian MPs."

Prime Minister Phillips also took a strong stand on terrorism and said, "Guyana condemns any form of terrorism. We believe that every nation has the right to live in peace with its citizens. We believe in the full observance of the rule of law."

Shashi Tharoor: Warm welcome and in-depth conversation

Congress MP Dr Shashi Tharoor expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the invitation and the warm welcome he received and said, "Guyana's 59th Independence Day is a historic occasion and the Prime Minister invited us to attend it. Several members of his cabinet were also present. We also discussed terrorism and shared India's views. This visit will give a new direction to India-Guyana relations."

Tejasvi Surya: Guyana's full support to India

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, who was part of the delegation, highlighted the strategic relationship between the two countries and said, "Guyana and India have a very long and important strategic relationship. Guyana has fully supported Operation Sindoor and has strongly supported India's stand against terrorism."

He also mentioned that "Guyana is not only a founding member of CARICOM but has also been openly speaking in favour of India as a non-permanent member in the UNSC."

Milind Deora: Shared resolve against terrorism

Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora described the role of this delegation as strengthening India's stand at the global level. He said, "After Operation Sindoor, India has sent 7 all-party delegations across the world to give a clear message that India will not compromise on terrorism. We want to send a message along with Guyana that the global community should unite against terrorism."

New direction in India-Guyana relations
