MH: BJP MP from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, Sujay Vikhe Patil has blamed the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for the defeat of another Shiv Sena candidate in the recently held Rajya Sabha elections, not an independent MLA. In the election for a total of six seats on Friday, Shiv Sena's Sanjay Pawar lost to BJP's Dhananjay Mahadik. Mahadik was BJP's third candidate while Maha Vikas Aghadi's ally NCP and Congress won one seat each.

Speaking to reporters in Ahmednagar, Vikhe Patil claimed that the Shiv Sena is facing political losses after joining hands with the NCP and Congress after the 2019 assembly elections. He claimed that the Sharad Pawar-led party was trying to finish the Shiv Sena politically.

He said, Shiv Sena and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray have suffered the biggest loss in the last two and a half years. Vikhe Patil said that the second Shiv Sena candidate lost because of NCP and independent MLA is not responsible for their defeat. The BJP MP said, Uddhav Thackeray should be alert and understand the conspiracy of NCP and pull himself out.

Vikhe Patil wondered why Praful Patel's (NCP) quota of preferred votes was increased from 42 to 43 earlier in the Rajya Sabha elections. He also asked why the Congress gave all 44 votes to its candidate Imran Pratapgarhi, while the quota was 41. He said, in the Rajya Sabha election, which was done through open voting. NCP and Congress could have given their extra votes to Sanjay Pawar.
