Nashik: A shocking case came to light in Maharashtra's Nashik where a couple was forced to elope from the marriage event mid-way after municipal corporation authorities and police conducted a raid at the event.

They raided the event to check if the people present in the marriage were adhering to COVID-19 norms and following proper social distancing and masking protocols.

The coronavirus cases have already raised alarm bells in Maharashtra, however, it appears that people have lowered the guards as the wedding here at Nashik had more than the stipulated guests i.e 50. The administration had capped the number of guests at weddings to be 50 considering the latest spike in the cases.

Guests found escaping

Not only did the couple elope mid-way but also the guests were seen escaping the venue after the authorities came in to check whether people were following all COVID norms.

The authorities now have become more strict as the cases are on the rise and COVID-19 norms are being flouted most in weddings.

Couple fled the scene

According to Times Now reporter Kajal Iyer, a couple, as well as the guests, fled the wedding scene when the authorities conducted a raid as they were afraid of being charged. However, the police issued challans to the family members for exceeding the number of guests and flouting social distancing norms.
