World News: A bus carrying Shia pilgrims to Karbala in Iraq overturned north of Baghdad on Saturday, killing 18 people. Medical officials said millions of Shiite pilgrims from Arbaeen gather in the city each year for the pilgrimage, which is considered the world's largest annual public gathering. Pilgrims come from different parts of Iraq as well as Iran and the Gulf countries, many of whom make their way to Karbala on foot. Two Iraqi medical officials said on condition of anonymity that the bus overturned near the town of Balad, about 55 miles (90 kilometers) north of Baghdad. Among the dead were 15 men and three women.

Officials said the dead included 0 Iranians, two Iraqis—the bus driver and his son—and six people of unknown nationality. Other injured have been admitted to the hospital. As soon as the information was received, the Iraq police had reached the spot and sent the injured to the hospital in their vehicle and ambulance. The exact number of injured is not yet known. Iraqi PM expressed condolences for the dead

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani expressed his condolences for the dead pilgrims. The prime minister was personally overseeing the entry of Iranian pilgrims into Iraq at the Shalamcheh border crossing on Saturday, where he and Iranian Vice President Mohammad Mokhbar also laid the foundation stone for a railway project. This will provide rail transport service between the two countries. This will make transportation convenient for passengers.
