Karnataka Politics: With the victory of Congress in Karnataka, now the big question has become who will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. This question was asked to the Congress in Karnataka even before the elections. However, then the Congress had avoided the question by saying that after the results, after the decision. But now the names of Siddaramaiah, DK Shivkumar, Mallikarjun Kharge, BK Hariprasad and Parameswaran are leading in the race for the post of CM. As soon as the Congress crossed the magical figure of 113 in Karnataka, there was only one question on every tongue that who would be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka? The answer to this question has not come from the Congress, but a formula has definitely been prepared, on the basis of which the Congress is preparing to give representation to every section in Karnataka. According to sources, Congress will also make three Deputy Chief Ministers along with the Chief Minister in Karnataka. All the three Deputy Chief Ministers will be from three different communities. A Lingayat, a Vokkaliga and a Dalit MLA will be made the Deputy Chief Minister. Explain that the reason behind this formula is the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the social equation of Karnataka.

Who will the Congress make the Chief Minister of Karnataka?

Actually, in politics, both the face and the pieces have to move ahead very carefully. No one can understand this better than Congress because Congress has faced similar situations in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan in 2018 i.e. exactly four and a half years ago. This time the Congress has a lot to lose because the people of Karnataka have given MLAs to the Congress with a lot of money and now it is the turn of the Congress. Whoever the Congress makes to sit on the chair of the Chief Minister of Karnataka, it will be his responsibility to take the five guarantees of the Congress to the public. The result of that guarantee will also have to be shown as soon as possible so that it can be benefited in the upcoming elections. In such a situation, the Congress high command started looking for such a face for the post of Deputy Chief Minister as well as Chief Minister, who would be able to deal with all the political equations.

Who is ahead in the race for Karnataka CM?

However, there are two big contenders for the post of Chief Minister in the Congress. First former Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah and second Karnataka Congress State President DK Shivakumar. Siddaramaiah had defeated the current Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in the race for the post of CM in 2013. Congress government was run in the state for 5 years. In such a situation, Siddaramaiah has the experience of running the government. Along with this, Siddaramaiah also has a hold of his own in the whole of Karnataka. But a big problem with Siddaramaiah is his age. Siddaramaiah is 75 years old who is not fit for far reaching politics of Congress.

How sure is DK Shivakumar's claim?

On the other hand, the other face in the race for the post of CM in Karnataka, who seems to be moving very fast, is DK Shivakumar. DK is the leader who, being the state president of the Congress for the last five consecutive years, has faced the BJP strongly. But the biggest problem of DK is that he does not have the same influence in entire Karnataka as Siddaramaiah has. However, DK Shivakumar falls in the area of Old Mysore where JDS has been dominant and this time Congress has registered a big victory in Mysore, ending that dominance.

Is Mallikarjun Kharge also an option?

When Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was asked a question for the post of CM after the election results of Karnataka, he avoided it by explaining the rules of the party. But political experts know that even in the mind of the Congress President, the aspirations of becoming the CM of Karnataka have not ended. Kharge had narrowly missed becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka thrice. This time the command of the Congress is in his hands. Congress has also performed well in Kharge's area. In such a situation, if the tug-of-war between DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah over the chair becomes more intense, then Kharge can also be an option for the Congress.

Apart from these three leaders, there are many leaders in the Congress who are longing for the post of CM. These leaders hope that their bet can be taken in the wake of the ambitions of Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. The most powerful name in the list of these leaders is that of former Deputy Chief Minister Ji Parmeshwar. Coming from the dalit community of Ji Parmeshwar makes his profile strong.

However, Siddaramaiah had announced before the election that this is his last election. In such a situation, Congress can give him a respectable farewell by giving him the post of CM for some time and under the formula of two and a half years, first Siddaramaiah and then DK Shivakumar can be given the post of Chief Minister. But whether DK Shivkumar will also agree on this is an important question. According to sources, the name of the new Chief Minister of Karnataka can also be discussed in the meeting of the Legislature Party to be held this evening. But it has been the system of the Congress that in the meeting of the Legislature Party, the responsibility of the selection of the post of CM is handed over to the Congress high command. It is expected that this tradition will be repeated in today's Congress Legislature Party meeting as well.
