The BCCI gave information about the change of timing by tweeting before the match on Thursday. BCCI wrote in the tweet, 'Delay in starting the match due to rain. After the initial inspection in Lucknow, the time for the toss and start of play in the first ODI between India and South Africa has been extended by half an hour. Now the toss will be held at 1:30 pm Indian time, the game will start at 2 pm.

The Indian team defeated South Africa 2-1 in the T20 series under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Now his eyes will be on winning the ODI series. However, Rohit Sharma has left for Australia for the T20 World Cup along with the rest of the players of the main team.
