Bihar Elections 2025 / Chirag is angry with Nitish, Sahni is angry with Tejashwi... condition of NDA-INDIA block

Before the Bihar assembly elections, internal strife has intensified in the NDA and the Grand Alliance. Chirag Paswan is criticizing the Nitish government, while Mukesh Sahni in the Grand Alliance is demanding the post of Deputy Chief Minister. Tensions are increasing in both the alliances regarding the distribution of seats.

Bihar Elections 2025: There has been a stir in the politics of the state regarding the Bihar assembly elections. The NDA (National Democratic Alliance) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the India Alliance (Grand Alliance) led by former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav have entered the fray with all their might. Both the alliances are claiming victory, but amid these claims, the voices of discontent are getting louder in both the camps. The tussle between Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi in the NDA, while Mukesh Sahni's displeasure in the Grand Alliance has further heated up the political atmosphere.

Discontent in NDA: Chirag Paswan attacks Nitish

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader and Union Minister Chirag Paswan, who is part of the NDA, is constantly attacking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He has criticized the Nitish government over the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar. Chirag openly said, "I feel ashamed that I am supporting a government which has completely failed to stop crime." He questioned the administration and alleged that the administration is either complicit or has completely failed.

Reacting to a recent murder at Paras Hospital in Patna, Chirag said that the morale of the criminals is sky high. This is not the first time he has targeted the Nitish government. Despite this, Chirag has announced that his party will contest all 243 seats in the upcoming elections, indicating that he is in no mood to compromise on seat sharing.

The history of bitterness between Chirag and Nitish is old. Chirag blames Nitish for the breakup of his party when his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras broke away from LJP and formed a new party in 2021. During that time, Chirag not only had to face the split of the party, but his father Ram Vilas Paswan also lost his government residence.

In the 2020 assembly elections, Chirag contested separately from the NDA, but did not field his candidates on BJP seats. His strategy was to harm the JDU, as a result of which the JDU was reduced to only 43 seats. This time too, it is clear from Chirag's rhetoric that he wants to strengthen his position against Nitish, but the role of BJP will be decisive in this equation.

Crisis in the Grand Alliance too: Mukesh Sahni's demand

All is not well in the Grand Alliance too. Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) leader Mukesh Sahni has openly expressed displeasure with Tejashwi Yadav. He is demanding the post of Deputy Chief Minister and has said that if his demand is not met, Tejashwi will also not be able to become the Chief Minister. Sahni has also demanded 60 seats, which he justifies on the basis of the 12% vote share of the Nishad community.

Sahni has a history of changing alliances. In 2015, he campaigned for the BJP, remained with the Grand Alliance in 2019 and 2024, and joined the NDA in 2020. In 2020 too, he had demanded 25 seats and the post of Deputy Chief Minister from the Grand Alliance, but when the demand was not met, he left the press conference. This time too, it will not be easy for the Grand Alliance to meet his demands, as the alliance already has parties like RJD, Congress, CPI (M), CPI and CPI (ML), and no party is ready to give up its seats.

Seat sharing problem

In the 2020 assembly elections, the Grand Alliance won 110 seats, in which RJD won 75, Congress 19 and Left parties won 16 seats. This time the Left parties are demanding more seats, while Sahni's demand for 60 seats has increased tension in the alliance. On the other hand, in NDA too, Chirag's announcement of contesting on 243 seats and his spat with Jitan Ram Manjhi have raised questions on the unity of the alliance.
