World / Corona virus new variants may emerge in future worldwide

After the increasing cases of corona worldwide and the spread of Omicron, scientists say that the rapid spread of Omicron is a sign that new variants of corona may emerge in the future. Experts clarified that the rapidly spreading infection gives an opportunity to change the mutants of the virus every time. Compared to other forms of corona, Omicron is spreading faster at a time when the immune system has been strengthened after corona infection and anti-coronavirus vaccine worldwide. This means that the virus will change its form even further.

Experts say that nothing can be said about what the new variants of the virus will be and how they will shape the epidemic. At the same time, experts clarified that there is no guarantee that Omicron will be mildly ill with the infection or that the current vaccine will be effective against it.

Is Omicron more contagious?

Infectious disease epidemiologist Leonardo Martinez of Boston University says that Omicron appeared in November and quickly spread around the world. Research suggests that this new form of corona is more contagious than the delta variant of the corona. It is also likely to infect people who have already been corona infected and people who have taken a dose of corona vaccine.

Dr. Stuart Campbell Ray, infectious disease specialist at Johns Hopkins University, says that even healthy people who are away from home or school can easily spread Omicron. Especially in people who have weak immunity, it can develop more powerful mutations of the virus by living in them. However people infected with Omicron tend to be less seriously ill than those with Delta.

Virus expected to become less lethal over time

At the same time, experts have expressed the possibility of the virus becoming less deadly over time. They say that when the first form of the corona appeared, no one survived it, both the vaccine and the infection provided immunity to the corona in most parts of the world, but the virus itself changed. There are many possible reasons for the change in the nature of the virus. It can also change its appearance by going to animals. As it has been seen that the virus has been found in the domestic pets of dogs, cats, deer etc. There is also a possibility that the virus may change its form by going to a patient who has been infected with both forms of corona.

Vaccination is the only protection

Experts say that as long as the rate of vaccination in the world is low, it is not possible to stop it. During a recent press conference, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that protecting people from future variants depends on getting 70 percent of the world's population vaccinated.

There are currently dozens of countries where less than a quarter of the population has been fully vaccinated, according to Johns Hopkins University data. People in the United States are opposing the vaccine. Dr Prabhat Jha of the Center for Global Health Research at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto said vaccination rates are low in the Americas, Africa, Asia, Latin America and elsewhere, which is a major failure.
