In the 50th match of IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs. SRH had a huge target of 208 runs, in response to which the team scored 186/8 and lost the match. Nicholas Pooran scored the highest 62 runs. Khaleel Ahmed took 3 wickets in Delhi's victory.


This is Hyderabad's third consecutive defeat in the current tournament. SRH has played 10 matches so far. During this, 5 were won and 5 lost. At the same time, this was Delhi's 5th win in 10 matches. Pant's team has also lost 5 matches.


Earlier, batting after losing the toss, DC scored 207 for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. David Warner top-scored with 92 not out, while Rovman Powell returned unbeaten on 67. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shaun Abbott and Shreyas Gopal took 1-1 wickets for SRH.

Then said Puran's bat

Nicholas Pooran completed his fourth half-century of his IPL career in 29 balls while batting brilliantly. He was dismissed by Shardul Thakur after playing a blistering innings of 62 in 34 balls. 3 wickets came in Khaleel's account

Khaleel Ahmed bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets in 4 overs. The fast bowler dismissed Abhishek Sharma (7), Aiden Markram (42) and Shaun Abbott (7). In his spell, he conceded 30 runs at an economy of 7.50.

Pooran and Markram pair

SRH openers flop

Chasing the target, SRH had a poor start. In the second over, Abhishek Sharma (7) lost his wicket off Khaleel Ahmed. Captain Kane Williamson was also dismissed in the 5th over. Kane was dismissed by Enrique Nortya for just 5 runs in 11 balls. Both these wickets were lost by Hyderabad on the score of just 23 runs. SRH had a run rate of 5.83 in the power play.


Powell and Warner pair

David Warner and Rovman Powell added 122 not out off 66 balls for the fourth wicket. This was the first century partnership for Delhi in IPL 2022. The pair scored runs in every corner of the field and troubled the Hyderabad bowlers a lot.

Powell played a strong innings

Rovman Powell scored the first half-century of his IPL career in 30 balls while batting vigorously. He scored an unbeaten 67 off 35 balls. His strike rate in this innings was 191.43.


Warner showed his mettle

David Warner scored an unbeaten 92 off 58 balls while batting brilliantly. Warner may not have completed the century, but his innings was very special. Actually, earlier Warner used to play with Sunrisers Hyderabad team only. Due to Warner's poor form in 2021, not only was he taken away the captaincy of the team but was also dropped from the team.


  • This was Warner's 54th century in the IPL and his first half-century against SRH.

Pant was dismissed after hitting a hat-trick of sixes.

In the 9th over, Rishabh Pant hit Shreyas Gopal for 3 consecutive sixes and then a four, but got bowled off the last ball. Actually, on the second ball, Pant hit a six in the direction of deep midwicket. Sent the third ball for six off the sightscreen and hits a six over the head of long off on the fourth ball. On the 5th ball, Rishabh hit the fourth consecutive boundary while cutting. However, the bowler won the last ball.


Pant wanted to play a shot in the direction of cover, but the ball took the thick inner edge of his bat and hit the stumps. Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 26 runs in 16 balls. David Warner and Pant added 48 runs in 29 balls for the third wicket.

DC lost two wickets in the power play

The first 6 overs were not very good for Delhi Capitals. Mandeep Singh returned to the pavilion after scoring zero in the very first over and Mitchell Marsh (10) in the 5th over. Marsh's wicket was taken by Shaun Abbott, playing his first match this season. Delhi hit 7 fours and 1 six in the power play. During this the team's run rate was 8.33.


Mandeep Singh out for zero

Batting first after losing the toss, DC got off to a bad start. Mandeep Singh returned to the pavilion without opening an account on the 5th ball of the first over. Bhuvi caught him in his net and got him out. Bhuvneshwar first bowled two consecutive inswings and then suddenly trapped Mandeep on the outswing. Taking the outer edge of the Delhi opener's bat, the ball went into the hands of keeper Pooran.

Big changes in playing-11

Delhi has made four changes in the playing-11 - Mandeep Singh, Ripple Patel, Enrique Nortya and Khaleel Ahmed have been given a chance in place of Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, Chetan Sakaria and Mustafizur Rahman. Prithvi Shaw was not available for this match. At the same time, SRH made 3 changes to replace Washington Sundar, T Natarajan and Marco Yensen with Karthik Tyagi, Shreyas Gopal and Shaun Abbott.
