Became the ninth governor of Jharkhand

Draupadi Murmu was born on 20 June 1958 in Baidaposi village of Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. His father's name is Biranchi Narayan Tudu. She belongs to the Santhal family, a tribal ethnic group. Born in a tribal family of Odisha, Draupadi Murmu became the ninth governor of Jharkhand. Before becoming the governor, she was a member of BJP. Not only this, Draupadi Murmu is the first Governor of Jharkhand to complete a five-year term (2015-2021) since its formation in the year 2000.

During the Bharatiya Janata Party and Biju Janata Dal coalition government in Odisha, she was the Minister of Commerce and Transport (Independent Charge) from 6 March 2000 to 6 August 2002. Apart from this, from 6 August 2002 to 16 May 2004, she was the Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Resource Development. Murmu was also a national executive member of the saffron party's ST Morcha from 2013 to 2015. He started his political career in 1997 by winning the election as a councillor. In the same year, he was elected as the state vice-president of the BJP's ST Morcha.
