India / Efforts are on: PM Modi on performance of Indian institutions in World University Rankings

New Delhi: Quacquarelli Symonds, QS World University Rankings listed three of the Indian Institutes among the top 200 universities of the world. IIT Bombay, IISc and IIT Delhi has been featured in the list of QS World University Rankings 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the institutes for securing positions on the list.

Quacquarelli Symonds, global higher education analysts, has released the 18th edition of the world's International University rankings today, on June 9, 2021. IISc Bengaluru ranked number one in the world for research and 186th position in universities rankings. On the other hand, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi secured 177th and 185th positions, respectively.

PM Modi congratulated the institutes through his Tweet, which reads, "Congratulations to IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. Efforts are underway to ensure more universities and institutions of India to scale global excellence and support intellectual progress among the youth."

Earlier in the day, the Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal has also extended his wishes with his Tweet, "QS World University Rankings 2022, the 18th edition of the world's most-consulted international university rankings, ranks @IITBombay at 177th position for its record-breaking performances. Many congratulations on taking us forward to become #BharatVishvaGuru."

The Education Minister added that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Institutes of Eminence (IoE) are among initiatives taken by the Central Government to improve the Indian education system at the World level. IISc Bangalore has become the world's top research university as per the citations per faculty indicator, and IIT Guwahati is the world's 41st as per the rankings. IISc is Asia's 37th and India's best institute according to the Asia University Rankings.
