End Discrimination / Equal money for women and men cricketers, Jay Shah announced

End Discrimination : Taking a step towards gender equality, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to pay equal match fees to female and male cricketers. Announcing this on Thursday, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, "I am pleased to announce BCCI's first step towards tackling discrimination.

We are implementing equal pay policy for contract women cricketers. Entering a new era of gender equality in cricket, match fees will be equal for both male and female cricketers." Shah added, "BCCI women cricketers will be paid the same match fees as their male counterparts."

He told that BCCI will give Rs 15 lakh to the contracted players for Test matches, Rs 6 lakh for ODI matches and Rs 3 lakh for T20 matches. "Wage equality was my commitment to our women cricketers and I thank Apex Council for their support," Shah said.

India is the second country to announce equal match fees for its men's and women's cricket team players. New Zealand announced this in July. Since 1 August 2022, the New Zealand men's team and women's team have received equal match fees. The Indian women's cricket team has grabbed everyone's attention with its performance in the last few years. The team won a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG) in Birmingham. Defeated England 3-0 in the ODI series at their home and then captured the Asia Cup for a record seventh time.
