Facebook and Instagram have blocked the pages and handles of the Indian Army's Chinar Corps for over a week. Army officials gave this information on Tuesday. Officials said that there was no response from Facebook in this regard.

An official said the Facebook and Instagram pages were created to stop the lies and propaganda being spread from across the border and to inform people about the real situation in the Kashmir Valley. A senior official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the matter was taken up with Facebook-related officials, but there has been no response from them so far.

Both the Facebook and Instagram pages of Chinar Corps, a popular name of Army's XV Corps in Kashmir, displayed the message, 'The link you are following is either wrong or the page has been removed'. There was no immediate reaction to the matter from Facebook and Instagram, which are part of the same company.

Facebook and Instagram are part of the same company. Both social media websites remove any such page if they feel that the information provided on the page does not comply with the rules made by the company. Or else people report about it to the company.
