New Delhi: Sanyukta Kisan Morcha on Monday held a key meeting to outline its schedule of protests in the coming month. Apart from a Bharat Bandh on March 26, farmer unions will intensify agitation against corporates through rallies and boycotts.

“Monday, March 15, will see protests and a memorandum will be given to SDMs and DMs against the rising prices of diesel, petrol, LPG and other essential commodities. We will also carry out protests at railway stations against privatisation,” said Dr Darshan Pal of BKU.

According to the farmer unions, in the coming days, a joint convention will be organised with trade unions and other mass organisations to plan out the Bharat Bandh on March 26. The famers have also planned a Muzara Lehar, which will be held in mandis across the country under the Kheti Bachao programme.

The farmers have also appealed to youngsters to join the movement at the Delhi borders in memory of Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his death anniversary.

“SKM thanks the people of Haryana, who showed their full strength against the anti-farmer BJP and the JJP government. The anti-farmer face of the JJP has been completely exposed. Farmers have sown seeds of opposition and resistance against these anti-farmer faces and results will be harvested soon. Haryana farmers will also intensify this protest by socially boycotting all BJP and JJP leaders,” said Pal.

The farmer unions said that a Kisan Majdoor Jagriti Yatra, which started from Kashipur, has reached Dineshpur, in which a large number of tractors, four-wheelers and two-wheelers participated Tuesday. More such yatras will be taken out in Bihar in the next week, said the farmers.
