Bihar News: On Friday afternoon, two assailants opened fire at a shop in the Karbigahia wholesale market adjacent to Patna Junction, killing a businessman. The people present there caught both the shooters and handed them over to the police after beating them. The deceased has been identified as Rahul Kumar, a grocery trader from Jakkanpur. According to eyewitnesses, he was on his way to his shop when he was shot in the chest. The victim was taken to Paras Hospital, Raja Bazar, where doctors declared him brought dead.

A local businessman who was an eyewitness said, "Two bike-borne assailants came to the shop of a biscuit wholesaler and started firing. Rahul Kumar got hit. Since the area is highly congested, we chased the accused." did this and managed to nab them. Local traders thrashed them mercilessly and also set their bike on fire. Jakkanpur police reached the spot and took them to the police station."

Firing took place in this market six months back – trader

Local traders claimed that a van was parked outside the biscuit agency and its driver had an altercation with the agency's owner, Bunty Kumar. The traders also accused of calling the shooters in the same dispute. Another trader said, "There was firing in this market six months ago and it has happened again today. We have repeatedly urged the local police to increase patrolling, but they are not serious about it. Traders are scared and They are thinking of migrating from Bihar. We have closed our shops in protest against the incident."

The agitated traders also blocked the busy Chirayatand flyover, leading to heavy traffic jam on the nearby roads. Patna Police claimed to have arrested two people after the incident, but did not reveal their names and real motive. After the incident, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Vijay Sinha visited the spot and targeted the Nitish Kumar government.

'Nitish Kumar has handed over Bihar to criminals'

Vijay Sinha said, "Nitish Kumar has become Dhritarashtra. He has handed over Bihar to criminals and is sitting silently. Crime cases are on the peak in the state and murders are routine. People are killing in broad daylight. I am returning from Arrah today, where fearless criminals barged into a businessman's shop and shot him dead and now this incident has happened in Patna. Law and order is under question. The authorities here are silent and ineffective.
