Heavy rain of notes will fill foreign exchange reserves

Nanayakkara said that there has been a significant increase in remittances by migrant workers this year. Data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka showed that the South Asian country received $437.5 million in remittances in January and $407.4 million in February. The total official figures for 2021 and 2022 were $5.49 billion and $3.8 billion respectively. This money coming from outside of migrant workers is one of the main sources of foreign revenue for Sri Lanka.
