Actually, the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Women's Premier League (WPL) are to be organized in 2024. BCCI has already started preparations for both these tournaments. Now fans are just waiting for the day when their favorite players will be seen in the auction. Meanwhile, the board can take another big decision to please the fans.

Good news for fans

Like IPL, BCCI can also organize the upcoming WPL 2024 matches in different cities. Mumbai and Bengaluru are also frontrunners to host the second season of the WPL. But the final decision regarding this issue will be taken on December 9. All the matches of the first season of WPL were played from March 4 to 26 at DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. It proved to be a successful season. Fans had reached the stadium in large numbers to watch the match. But to further promote women's cricket, there is a strong demand to give opportunity to more venues.

BCCI official said this

According to a report, the cricket board is considering choosing two or more cities to organize the second season of the tournament. The players will be auctioned on December 9. It is expected that some big announcement will be made regarding this on that day. A BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity that the final decision regarding the match venues can be taken after December 9 (WPL auction date), but there is every possibility that it could be held in different cities this time. And currently Mumbai and Bengaluru are at the forefront of this race.

Mumbai and Karnataka Cricket Association officials have also shown interest in hosting the WPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore women's team captain Smriti Mandhana had also advocated organizing WPL matches in different cities. The BCCI official further said that WPL received a good response from fans in the initial year, and it is the right time to take it to different cities. Bengaluru has always had a good audience for women's cricket, and now it has increased because of the RCB women's team.
