Maharashtra / House collapses in Mumbai's Antop Hill area, 9 people rescued

A house collapsed in Mumbai's Antop Hill area on Tuesday morning. According to an official of the Mumbai Fire Brigade who was present at the spot, so far at least nine people have been rescued and shifted to a nearby hospital. "Four fire brigade vehicles are at the spot," the official added. Rescue operations were being conducted at the site.

MUMBAI: Nine people were injured after a house collapsed in Antop Hill area of Mumbai on Tuesday morning.

The ground-plus-one-storey structure, located at Jai Maharashtra Nagar in Antop Hill, Wadala, crashed at around 8am. The cause of the crash is still unclear.

Four fire engines rushed to the site along with one rescue van, JCB and 20 labourers.

Of the nine people rescued from the debris of the collapsed house, seven were sent to Sion Hospital for treatment while two persons refused hospitalisation, BMC disaster management said.

Some of the injured, who were under OPD treatment at Sion hospital, were identified as Amit Mishra (23), Surendra Mishra (59) and Punam Sharma (28).
