Rahul Gandhi / House number 0 and father's name hhgassjk found in voter list- Rahul Gandhi

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi made serious allegations of voter list rigging. He claimed that more than one lakh votes were stolen in Mahadevpura area of Karnataka. Rahul also raised questions on 40 lakh fake voters in Maharashtra and the role of Election Commission.

Rahul Gandhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi held a press conference in Delhi today, in which he made allegations of large-scale rigging in the voter list in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. He presented evidence referring to irregularities in the elections of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Haryana and questioned the Election Commission.

Claim of vote theft in Karnataka

Rahul Gandhi alleged theft of 1 lakh 25 thousand votes in Mahadevpura assembly constituency of Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka. He claimed that his team did a deep analysis of the voter list, in which many irregularities came to light. According to him:

  • 11,965 duplicate voters were found.
  • More than 40 thousand fake addresses were registered.
  • More than 10 thousand voters were registered at the same address.
  • More than 4 thousand invalid photos came to light.
  • More than 33 thousand people misused Form 6.
Rahul said that 50-50 voters were registered at the same address, at many places the names were the same but the photos were different. For example, he showed a voter list in which the address was written as "House Address 0" and the father's name was an illegal name like "hhgassjk". In one case, 80 voters from house number 35 and 46 voters from house number 791 cast their votes.

"It is the principle in our constitution that one person has the right to one vote. But now the question arises how safe is this principle?" he said.

"Mysterious" voters issue in Maharashtra" Rahul Gandhi claimed that 40 lakh "mysterious" voters have been added in the Maharashtra assembly elections. He said that in 5 months, so many voters have increased in Maharashtra, which normally does not increase in 5 years. He alleged that 1 crore voters suddenly increased in Maharashtra during the Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

He said, "The Election Commission is not giving us machine readable data so that we cannot catch these irregularities. A huge amount of voting was shown after 5:30 pm, which did not happen in reality."

Questions on the results of Haryana and Maharashtra

Rahul questioned the results of the assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra and said that there was a huge difference between the exit polls and the actual results. He said, "When there were no EVMs, the whole country used to vote in one day. But now voting goes on for months, which increases suspicion."

Process of gathering evidence

Rahul Gandhi told that his team analyzed the voter list with the hard work of 30-40 people for 6 months. He said, "We checked the name and photo of each person in every sheet so that duplicate voters could be detected. It was a complex and time-consuming process." He claimed that the Election Commission refused to give electronic data because they do not want such irregularities to be exposed.

"Atom bomb" claim

On August 1, Rahul Gandhi had claimed that he had solid evidence of vote theft in connivance with the Election Commission, which he termed as "atom bomb". The Election Commission had termed these allegations as baseless and reprehensible and said that Rahul Gandhi had started threatening the Commission and its employees.

Difference between internal survey and results

Rahul said that his internal survey had predicted Congress to win 16 seats in Karnataka, but the party could win only 9 seats. He said that BJP was trailing in six out of seven assembly constituencies in Bengaluru Central, but it got one-sided votes in Mahadevapura, which is suspicious.
