Delhi Electricity Bill: For the residents of the country's capital Delhi, a big news came out on Monday. Now electricity will be available in Delhi at an expensive price. This decision was taken when the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) approved the proposal to increase the electricity rates in the capital. However, even after this decision, the Aam Aadmi Party government is claiming that even after the decision of DERC, there will be no impact on the people getting free electricity. In such a situation, on whom the decision to increase the price of electricity will have a direct impact, let us explain to you.

DERC has been in news for some time in Delhi, recently Justice Umesh Kumar was appointed as the chairman of the board, which was opposed by the Arvind Kejriwal government. Meanwhile, the center and the state are again face to face regarding the price of electricity. DERC has decided to increase the prices in the capital by about 10 percent. However, its effect will be largely limited to companies.

Now how much electricity bill will have to be paid in Delhi?

After the decision of DERC, there was confusion among the people regarding the electricity bill. In such a situation, the power minister in the Delhi government, Atishi, tried to remove it by holding a press conference on Monday. Atishi accused the Center of increasing electricity rates. Also told that those who come under the ambit of getting free electricity, they will not have to pay more money. According to Atishi, people who are not yet in the list of getting free electricity in Delhi will have to pay 8 percent more surcharge under the new rates.

That is, if you live in Delhi and are not in the free electricity bracket, then you will have to spend more money. Giving example, Atishi said that if till now your bill used to come at Rs 100, now you will have to pay Rs 108. He made it clear that the increased price will have to be paid under surcharge, not the unit. Please tell that the Kejriwal government is constantly accusing the central government of giving expensive coal.

Let us tell you that after the formation of the government, the Aam Aadmi Party had promised to provide free electricity up to 200 units in the capital Delhi, under this the scheme of free electricity is implemented in Delhi. Under this, families whose electricity expenditure is 200 units or less, do not have to pay electricity bills. However, the electricity bill of families spending more than 200 units comes according to different tariffs.

Tariff charge of many companies will increase

Due to this decision of DERC, the charges of different companies are going to increase. According to the information, the consumers of BYPL will have to pay 9.42 percent, the customers of BRPL will have to pay 6.39 percent more tariff. Not only this, people living in NDMC area will have to pay 2 per cent additional tariff. After the decision to increase the electricity bill, there are many questions in the mind of the people, but the state government is constantly claiming that this decision will not affect the people getting free electricity.

It is worth noting that this matter related to the price of electricity bill was pending for many days. Electricity companies had appealed to DERC to increase the tariff, which has been accepted by the commission. Apart from the commission's decision, Atishi, the power minister in the Delhi government, has accused the central government of a conspiracy. Atishi says that coal has become costlier due to the policies of the Centre, they have to import coal from outside, that is why electricity prices have increased in the capital.

On the one hand, the Aam Aadmi Party is attacking the Centre, while the BJP has attacked Arvind Kejriwal. BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana says that due to the connivance of the Delhi government and the electricity company, the rates of electricity in Delhi have increased. He has asked about the relationship between Arvind Kejriwal and the power companies. Union Energy Minister RK Singh's statement had come out on this matter a few days ago, he had said that 650 lakh crores is spent every year for power supply and related works. But due to the loan taken by the state governments for subsidy, many times the development plans are also obstructed.
