Maharashtra Politics: Chhagan Bhujbal, minister of Ajit Pawar faction in Maharashtra government, revealed that he had resigned from the post of minister in November last year. Chhagan has accused the state government of facilitating backdoor entry of the Maratha community into the OBC quota. Addressing a rally in Ahmednagar on Saturday, NCP leader Bhujbal said that he is not against Marathas getting reservation, but is against sharing the existing OBC quota.

He said that many opposition leaders, even leaders of my government, say that I should resign. Someone said that Bhujbal should be dismissed from the cabinet. Chhagan Bhujbal said that I want to tell the opposition, government and my party leaders that before the OBC Elgar rally organized in Ambad on 17 November, I had resigned from the cabinet on 16 November and after that I went to attend the program.

Bhujbal further said that he remained silent for more than two months because the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister had forbidden him to speak about this. The OBC leader said that there is no need for dismissal, I have tendered my resignation. I will fight for OBC till the end.

Sanjay Raut said attack on Devendra Fadnavis

On Chhagan Bhujbal's resignation, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that it is good that he has resigned, but it is their understanding that you resign and we will not accept, this drama is going on. Is Devendra Fadnavis saying this through the mouth of his arms? CM should dismiss him immediately. He has been seen attending cabinet meetings. All communities (Dhangar, Maratha, OBC) should get justice, Shiv Sena's stance is that no one's existing reservation should be affected.

Why does Chhagan Bhujbal have objection to Maratha reservation?

Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) MLAs like Sanjay Shirsat and Sanjay Gaikwad are opposing Bhujbal. They are demanding 'throwing Bhujbal out of the cabinet' to protest against the inclusion of Maratha community in the OBC category. OBC leader Bhujbal is opposing this move because the inclusion of Marathas will increase the rush for reservation and government jobs in the OBC category.
