IND vs WI Test Series: A two-match Test series was played between India and West Indies in the month of July. The first match of this series was played at Windsor Park in Dominica. The result of this match came within three days and India won by an innings and 141 runs. The referee of this match, Jeff Crowe, gave a below average rating to the pitch used for this match. ICC took action on this pitch and he also got one demerit point. But later Cricket West Indies appealed and after this the ICC changed its decision but still took action against the pitch. Now this rating has been made average.

What is ICC's rule?

Let us tell you that if you get a rating below average, you also get one demerit point. According to the rules, a pitch gets one demerit point for below average rating, 3 for poor rating and 5 demerit points for being declared an unfit pitch. If a ground gets five demerit points, then according to ICC rules, that ground is banned from playing international cricket for one year. At the same time, on 10 demerit points, this ban can extend up to 2 years. In such a situation, the ICC did run Hunter but after the appeal of Cricket West Indies, now it has rated the pitch as average and has not given any demerit points to the ground.

The pitch of the second test also got an average rating.

The second Test match of the series was played at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain. However, due to rain the match could not be completed and was a draw. The pitch of this ground has also been given an average rating by the ICC. Both these pitches were seen to be very slow. On the Dominica pitch, the Indian spinners had troubled the West Indies. Ashwin took a total of 12 wickets in this match. He took 5 wickets in the first innings and 7 wickets in the second innings. Ravindra Jadeja also bowled amazingly.
