IPL 2025 Final / If IPL Final is cancelled due to rain then who will be the winner? This is the rule

The final of IPL 2025 will be played between RCB and Punjab Kings on June 3 in Ahmedabad. Rain may cause disruption. If the match does not take place even on the reserve day, then Punjab Kings, who top the points table, will be declared the winner.

IPL 2025 Final: The final match of IPL 2025 will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings on June 3 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This match will not only be a clash between two of the best teams, but also an opportunity to create history, as both the teams have not won the IPL trophy even once so far.

There is tremendous enthusiasm among the fans about this high-voltage match. RCB's experienced pair like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis and Punjab's young team full of enthusiasm promise a great match. But an unwanted guest - rain - can spoil this exciting match.

What if rain stops the match?

The BCCI has kept a reserve day (June 4) in view of any such emergency. If the final match is not completed due to rain on June 3, and the game is not restored even within the stipulated additional two hours, then the match will be shifted to the next day i.e. reserve day.

But the matter does not end here. If the match is cancelled due to rain on the reserve day, then as per the rules of IPL, the team which topped the points table in the league stage will be declared the winner.

Who will become the champion if the final is cancelled?

Punjab Kings, who performed brilliantly in the league stage, became the table topper with 19 points by winning 9 out of 14 matches and 1 match remained inconclusive. RCB also won 9 out of 14 matches and they also had 19 points, but they lagged behind Punjab in terms of net run rate.

This simply means that if both the final and reserve day are washed away by rain, then Punjab Kings will become the IPL champion for the first time.

How justified is the worry about rain?

However, according to the reports of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain in the evening on June 3. But the good news is that the drainage system of Narendra Modi Stadium is excellent. The game can be resumed only 20 minutes after the rain stops. That is, if it rains for a while, fans can still expect the entire match.

The thrill of the final is at its peak

RCB and Punjab Kings – both teams have been looking for a title for years. Both have no shortage of experience, talent and passion. This match will not just be about a trophy, but will be a symbol of years of hope and struggle.

Now it remains to be seen which team wins on the field – Punjab, which creates a rainbow after the rain, or RCB, which is ready to shine in the hot sun?
