Country / Income Tax Department claims - Sonu Sood evaded tax worth more than 20 crores

The Income Tax Department said in a statement that during searches at the premises of Sonu Sood and his associates, incriminating evidence related to tax evasion has been found.

The Income Tax Department has made a big disclosure regarding the raid against Bollywood actor Sonu Sood. The department says that Sonu Sood is involved in tax evasion of more than 20 crores. The Income Tax Department conducted a survey at the actor's Mumbai home for three consecutive days.

The department said Sood raised non-profits to the tune of 2.1 crore from foreign donors, which is in violation of the law governing such transactions. In the investigation so far, 20 such entries have been found, the givers of which admitted to being fraudulent. He also agreed to issue checks in lieu of cash. According to the CBDT, a total of 28 premises including Mumbai, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jaipur, Delhi and Gurugram were raided.
