IND vs SL / India won the first ODI of the year with Virat's century, beat Sri Lanka by 67 runs

IND vs SL: Team India has won the first ODI of the World Cup year on the basis of Virat Kohli's (113 runs off 87 balls) century. The team defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the first match of the 3-match series. With this victory, the Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the series. The second match will be played on January 12 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Batting first after losing the toss at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, the Indian team posted a mammoth score of 373 for 7 in 50 overs. Virat Kohli scored his 45th ODI century for Team India. Kohli has scored a century at home after four years. Apart from Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma (83 runs) scored his 47th ODI half-century. While Shubman Gill (70 runs) scored 5th Fifty. KL Rahul contributed 39 and Shreyas Iyer contributed 28 runs.

Kasun Rajitha took three wickets. Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Dilshan Madushanka and Chamika Karunaratne got one wicket each. In the reply innings, the Sri Lankan team could only manage 306 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs. Its captain Dasun Shanaka (108) scored his second ODI century. Lankan team opener Pathum Nissanka (72 runs) scored a half-century. While Dhananjay de Silva got out after scoring 47 runs.

Umran Malik took maximum 3 wickets from India.

First: Mohammad Siraj got Avishka Fernando caught by Hardik Pandya on the 5th ball of the fourth over.

Second: Siraj bowled Kusal Mendis on the third ball of the sixth over.

Third: On the last ball of the 14th over, Umran Malik got Charith Aslanka caught by Rahul behind the wicket.

Fourth: On the 5th ball of the 25th over, Dhananjaya de Silva was caught by Mohammed Shami at the hands of KL Rahul.

Fifth: In the 31st over, Umran Malik had Pathum Nissanka caught by Akshar Patel towards mid-wicket.

Sixth: Chahal got Vanindu Hasaranga caught by Shreyas Iyer.

Seventh: Dunit Velalge (0) was caught by Umran Malik at the hands of Shubman Gill.

Eighth: Pandya got Karunaratne caught by Rohit Sharma in the 38th over.

India scored 373 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. Virat Kohli scored his 45th ODI century for Team India. Kohli has scored a century at home after four years. Apart from Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma (83 runs) scored his 47th ODI half-century. While Shubman Gill (70 runs) scored 5th Fifty. KL Rahul contributed 39 and Shreyas Iyer contributed 28 runs.

Kasun Rajitha took three wickets. Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Dilshan Madushanka and Chamika Karunaratne got one wicket each.

Century partnership between Rohit-Gil

Batting first after losing the toss, India got off to a good start. Opener Rohit Sharma studded 47th Fifty. Shubman Gill also scored a half-century. Both added 143 runs in 118 balls.

Rohit has partnered 100+ while opening for the 27th time. He has also shared 100-run partnerships with Shikhar Dhawan 18 times, KL Rahul 5 times and Ajinkya Rahane 3 times.

Fifth: On the ball of Kasun Rajitha, Hardik Pandya caught Vanindu Hasaranga at long on. Hardik scored 12 runs on 14 balls.

Sixth: In the 48th over, Akshar Patel was caught by Avishka Fernando off the bowling of Karunaratne.

Seventh: Caught out by Mendis behind the wicket on Rajitha's ball.
