Nigeria has banned Twitter indefinitely, so Indian social media company Koo has started taking advantage of the opportunity. Koo co-founder Aparameya Radhakrishna said on Twitter on Saturday that his platform is available in Nigeria and is looking to offer services in the local language as well. The Bengaluru-based company's microblogging site is being touted as an alternative to Twitter in India as well.

Radhakrishna tweeted, "@kooindia is also available in Nigeria. We are looking to introduce the local language there as well. What would you say?" The African nation banned Twitter indefinitely after Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari's tweet was removed. In this post, he warned regional separatists.

The ban on Twitter in Nigeria comes at a time when the company is in conflict with the government in India over new IT rules. Giving Twitter a last chance on Saturday, the Indian government said that it will have to implement the rules in any case, otherwise be prepared to face the consequences. Meanwhile, many ministers of the central government have made their account on Koo.

Last month, Koo co-founder Radhakrishna had said that his company was in touch with investors to raise funds and a deal could happen within 3-4 months. The users of this rival of Twitter have increased a lot, but it is far behind it.
