Iran-Israel Conflict / India's diplomacy shines, Iran opens airspace for evacuation of Indian students

India's diplomacy on foreign soil has once again done wonders. In the midst of the Israel-Iran war, Iran opened its airspace only for India, making the return of 1,000 students possible. This is a proof of Prime Minister Modi's leadership ability. The first flight will reach Delhi tonight, the rest will come on Saturday.

Iran-Israel Conflict: Once again Indian diplomacy has done wonders on foreign land. The Indian government took an effective and sensitive initiative for the safe return of Indian students stranded in the atmosphere of tension and fear of Israel-Iran war. The result was that Iran decided to open its airspace exclusively for India only. This decision has become a living example of India's international credibility and strong foreign policy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Iran opened airspace only for India

Iran clearly stated that its airspace has been opened only for India at the moment to ensure the safe return of Indian citizens, especially students, stranded there. This step is an indication of how strong and based on mutual respect the bilateral relations between India and Iran are.

The way for the return of about 1,000 Indian students stranded in Tehran has now been cleared. The first of these flights will reach Delhi at around 11 pm on Friday. After this, the return of the remaining students will be ensured through two more flights on Saturday - one in the morning and one in the evening.

Wave of relief among students and families

Amidst the tense atmosphere and fear of war, this news has brought great relief to the students and their families. These students, hailing from different parts of the country, were studying in medical and technical institutions in and around Tehran. Now the smile of relief has returned on their faces. The activism of the Government of India and the promptness of the embassy averted a major crisis in time.

How many Indian citizens are there in Iran?

According to the data of the Government of India, a total of 10,765 Indian citizens were present in Iran by the beginning of 2025. These include more than 6,000 students, who are mainly living in Iran to pursue higher education. Apart from this, about 4,320 other Indian citizens – including businessmen, professionals and technical experts – are also working in Iran.

In the current conflict situation, the Government of India has intensified contact and relief efforts not only for students but also for other Indians.

Diplomatic success of Modi government

Getting such special cooperation from a strategic and sensitive country like Iran is being considered a big success of India's international diplomacy. In the foreign policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' along with 'public interest and security' is given top priority. This case confirms this approach.

India is not only ensuring the safety of its citizens, but is also establishing itself as a responsible and humanitarian power on the global platform.
