IND vs ENG: Team India's morale is high after equalizing the Test series against England but bad news is continuously coming for it. Star batsman Virat Kohli is not likely to play in the remaining three Test matches. And now another news is coming that Shreyas Iyer is also out of the entire series. According to reports, middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer has developed a back problem, due to which the possibility of him being out of the remaining matches of the series has increased.

Shreyas Iyer was part of the playing-11 in the first and second test matches played in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. It was only after the second test match that he informed the team management about his problem. According to the report of Indian Express, Shreyas told the team management that he was having trouble batting for long. According to the report, Iyer is suffering from back stiffness and groin pain while playing 'forward defence'. Shreyas Iyer told the team management that he was having pain in his back and groin after playing about 30 balls.

Surgery last year, now pain again

Shreyas Iyer's back pain is not new. He had this problem in January last year, due to which he could not play some matches. Then the first match of the Test series against Australia was also missed. He returned in the Test series but again did not take the field in the fourth Test due to back pain. In such a situation, he had to undergo back surgery and due to this he could not play in IPL 2023.

According to BCCI sources, this is the first time that Shreyas has experienced such pain after his back surgery last year and hence he has been advised rest. In such a situation, it seems difficult for Shreyas to play in the remaining 3 matches of the series. He will have to go to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, where he will undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical team and then try to be fit for the IPL.

Disappointing performance of Shreyas

Both the matches of the Test series did not prove to be good for Shreyas. The Indian batsman scored only 104 runs in 4 innings. In such a situation, his place in the playing eleven was already looking difficult. Now with his exit, the senior selection committee of the board will have to bet only on new players. The selection committee will announce the squad for the remaining 3 matches on Friday, February 9, in which young batsman Sarfaraz is expected to be retained.
