India-Pakistan War / Indo-Pak ceasefire continues after Operation Sindoor

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, India carried out Operation Sindoor in Pakistan. Despite this, the ceasefire agreement reached on May 10 is still in place. The Indian Army has made it clear that the ceasefire has no expiry date—violation will have severe consequences.

India-Pakistan War: In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, India carried out Operation Sindoor, striking a blow to the terrorist bases. This action was taken by targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan-occupied areas, from where conspiracies were being hatched to spread terror in India. This retaliatory action by India not only dealt a blow to the terrorist network, but once again made it clear that India can go to any level regarding its security.

Diplomatic initiative after tension

After Operation Sindoor, tensions between India and Pakistan had increased. In the four-day military conflict, both the countries targeted each other's military bases with drones, missiles and long-range weapons. This created a war-like situation in the region. In view of the seriousness of the situation, a conversation took place on the hotline between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of both the countries on May 10, after which a ceasefire was formally announced on May 12.

“No expiry date for ceasefire”

On Sunday, the Indian Army rejected the media reports that the ceasefire period is ending on May 18. The Army clarified in its statement that there is no expiry date for the ceasefire. This agreement will remain in force as long as both sides respect it. The Army warned Pakistan in clear words that if the ceasefire is violated, it may have to face serious consequences.

Process of weekly hotline talks

As per an established process towards tension management between India and Pakistan, hotline talks are held between the DGMOs of the two countries every Tuesday. Under this process, the next talks are proposed on May 20. It is believed that in this dialogue, the ceasefire compliance till now will be reviewed and the future direction will be decided.

India's zero tolerance policy against terrorism

Operation Sindoor has clearly given the message that India is committed to a zero tolerance policy towards terrorism. India's policy is now clear - talks will happen only when there is peace on the border, and peace will prevail only when terror bases are destroyed. India is achieving this balance through its military prowess and diplomatic efforts.
