BBC Documentary: Income tax raids have been going on for more than 19 hours at the BBC office in Delhi. The Income Tax team reached the BBC office at around 11.15 am on Tuesday morning and started the survey work. About 15 to 20 officers are present in the Income Tax team. At the same time, the UK government said that it is keeping an eye on this matter.

If sources are to be believed, it may take a long time to check BBC's accounts and electronic gadgets. In such a situation, the action of the Income Tax Department may take a long time. At the same time, after the income tax raid in the BBC office, politics has also intensified. The opposition has become an attacker on the Modi government and is calling it against democracy. The situation is being compared to the Emergency. At the same time, BJP says that all the action is being taken under the rules and if no one has done anything wrong, then there is no need to fear.

BBC had received income tax notice earlier also

Officials said the survey was carried out to examine issues related to international taxation and "transfer pricing" of BBC subsidiaries. He alleged that notices were given to BBC in the past but it did not heed and comply with it and diverted a significant portion of its profits. He said the department is looking into documents related to the business operations of the BBC. Meanwhile, the BBC said it was co-operating fully with the Income Tax authorities.

According to the information, the BBC is accused of financial irregularities and tax evasion. There is also an allegation of violation of transfer pricing norms and rules of international taxation. The Income Tax Department has sought balance sheet and transaction details from the BBC. All transactions made after the BBC's financial year 2012-13 are likely to be probed.

When the raids began on Tuesday, BBC staff were told to keep their phones in a special place inside the premises. Some computers have been confiscated while mobile phones of some employees are being cloned. As news of the raid on the BBC office spread, a large crowd of passers-by and media personnel gathered outside the BBC office at Kasturba Gandhi Marg in central Delhi. The BBC has its headquarters in Mumbai in Santacruz. Under the survey, the Income Tax Department examines only the business premises of the company and does not raid the residences and other places of its promoters or directors.
