Pakistan and China are working on a plan to create a television channel and media organization to achieve dominance in the field of information. Together, the two countries are offering an alternative to Western news media. People familiar with the developments gave this information on the condition of anonymity. The people said the two countries were exploring the possibility of forming an organization on the lines of Qatar's Al-Jazeera or Russia's RT network. For this, journalists of international stature will be brought together, who will be supported by funds from China. The thinking behind the move is that China's internal dynamism precludes an open media, but the country has financial strength. The internal scenario of Pakistan is favorable for such a media organisation, but the state lacks financial resources. People have said this citing internal documents obtained by Indian security agencies. He further said that both countries feel that there is a need for a media house of the stature of Al-Jazeera and RT so that news can be delivered to the people according to their need. Such an organization can be set up in Pakistan. Can be funded by China to achieve the objectives of both sides. The move comes almost two years after Pakistan's unsuccessful attempt to start an English television channel along with Turkey and Malaysia, which had to project the right image of Islam, faced challenges due to Islamophobia. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke about it after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad in New York in September 2019. The project was apparently shelved last year due to lack of interest from Turkey and Malaysia and there has been no update from the Pakistani side.People pointed to Chinese President Xi Jinping's remarks at the Communist Party's Politburo meeting on May 31 about the need to build a "trustworthy, sweet and respectful" image for the country. He said it reflected a move by Beijing to undermine its recent "wolf warrior" diplomacy.According to state-run Xinhua news agency, Xi told senior Communist Party leaders that the country should "make friends on a large scale, unite the majority and continually expand its circle of friends with those who understand China." are and are friendly". He said China needs to "hold on its tone" in its communication with the world and be open and confident. One of the people quoted above said: "The aim of the current project is to set up a media house to project the so-called true image of Pakistan. Although the documents do not directly refer to China in terms of content. Financing will be provided by China." , is proof that China wants to use this channel as a platform to improve its image."One of the documents obtained by security agencies said China is competing with the West in technology and economy, but has lagged behind in "information dominance". It further states that in a world dominated by social media, winning the information battle is more important than winning the physical battle. In recent months, Pakistan's military has taken several steps to intimidate and silence its critics in the media. Popular TV anchor Hamid Mir was taken off air by Geo News, one of the most watched channels of Pakistan. He had threatened to give details of the alleged shooting of a senior military officer by his wife in protest against an attack by intelligence officers on a Pakistani reporter during a protest in Islamabad on May 29.
