World News: A police officer was killed and another officer was injured in a knife attack in the Belgian capital Brussels on Thursday. A Belgian judicial official said it was suspected to be a terrorist attack. According to reports, the attack took place at around 7.15 pm. Police shot the suspected assailant and was declared brought dead at the hospital. Media reports said that the attacker raised the slogan of 'Allah Hu Akbar' before stabbing the police officer with a knife.

'Officer died during treatment'

Eric van der Schieft, an official at the Federal Prosecutor's Office, said: "A man attacked one of our patrols with a knife. After this 2 police officers called extra force. An officer of another patrol party opened fire to kill the attacker. Two injured personnel and the attacker were admitted to the hospital. One of the officers was stabbed in the neck and died while undergoing treatment.' Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Cru has expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased officer.

Slogan 'Allah Hu Akbar'

At the same time, according to Belgian media, the attacker shouted 'Allah Hu Akbar'. According to 'Le Soire' newspaper, the deceased police officer was stabbed in the neck and died in hospital. Belgian Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden said she was in contact with the mayor of Brussels, the chief of police and security services. Let us tell you that there have been many terrorist attacks in Belgium in the last decade. In 2016, suicide attacks on Brussels subways and airports killed 32 people and injured hundreds.
