West Bengal / Kolkata man working unregistered finance firm lynched by colleagues dead in hospital

Kolkata | A case of lynching of a 36-year-old man has come to light in West Bengal. Police officials said that the man was working in an unregistered firm based in Kolkata. The deceased has been identified as Amit Ranjan Chatterjee. Three people including the owner of the company have been arrested in this case. Police have registered a case of culpable homicide against him.

According to the police, Chatterjee was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night by six youths. He told the doctors of MR Bangur Hospital that he was injured in an accident. However, suspicions arose after the police noticed the injuries sustained by the victim. The injured man could not be saved during treatment, he died shortly after.

The officer of Regent's Park police station said, 'The hospital authority informed us about this. The hospital staff held a man named Somnath Chakraborty, while the five boys fled from there. Chakraborty has been taken into police custody. During investigation, it was found that after a scuffle, Chatterjee was thrashed to death by the boys who worked with him.

'Rs 3 lakh was taken in the name of the company'

The victim was a resident of Birbhum district. He was working in a private firm for the last 9 months. This firm used to provide loans to the people. He had come to Kolkata about 2 years ago and was living in Kudghat area. Company owner Suman Mandal said that Chatterjee had taken around Rs 3 lakh from people in the name of the firm. He did not even deposit this money in the account of the company. When we talked to him about this, the fight started.
