Gujrat News: The resentment of the Rajput community over the controversial remarks of BJP candidate from Rajkot Lok Sabha seat of Gujarat, Purushottam Rupala (Rajkot Seat BJP Candidate Parshottam Rupala), does not seem to be decreasing yet. Kshatriya Samaj is intensifying its agitation and is adamant on canceling Rupala's candidature at any cost. For this, Kshatriya Samaj demonstrated its strength through a huge public meeting in Ratanpur village of Rajkot on Sunday and reiterated the demand of BJP to withdraw Rupala's candidature. Kshatriya Samaj has warned of boycotting BJP if Rupala is not given ticket. Earlier, the ruling BJP had announced that Rupala would file his nomination papers on April 16.

A huge crowd of people gathered in this huge conference organized by various Rajput organizations in Ratanpur, Rajkot. While women came out wearing saffron attire to participate in this conference, most of the men followed the dress code of white shirt, black pants and turban. National President of Shri Rajput Karni Sena Mahipal Singh Makrana was also included among the speakers. Makrana was detained in Gujarat on April 6 when he had come to meet some women of Karni Sena, who had threatened to commit 'jauhar' (self-immolation) in protest against Rupala.

Addressing the meeting, Kshatriya Samaj core committee member Ramjubha Jadeja said, “We stand firm on our demand to withdraw Rupala's candidature. We have demanded from BJP that Rupala will have to go and we stand by that demand.

Jadeja said that Rupala insulted our daughters and sisters. Then he pretended to apologize. But, we have rejected his apology. We will continue our protest against Rupala. BJP should cancel his candidature from Rajkot Lok Sabha seat.

What are the Rajputs angry about about Rupala?

Rupala, the BJP candidate from Gujarat's Rajkot Lok Sabha seat, had created a controversy by claiming that the then 'Maharajas' had succumbed to the oppression of foreign rulers and the British and even married their daughters to them. The Kshatriya community in Gujarat strongly objected to Rupala's comments because most of the then royal families were Rajputs.

Akhilesh Yadav, national president of the Samajwadi Party, which is part of the India alliance, posted a video of the public meeting in Rajkot on his social media platform 'X' and wrote, "This huge outpouring of anger of the Rajput community against the BJP shows that even if Gujarat Be it Rajasthan, Haryana or Uttar Pradesh, everywhere the Kshatriya, Rajput, Thakur communities have stood up for their honor and respect. BJP never has the right to insult any society. BJP should remember those who gave them power and will take an oath to oust them from power and defeat them badly. This society never goes back on the promises it makes. The mistake of considering voters as our political captives will lead to the downfall of BJP.

Even in Chittorgarh, Rajputs had demonstrated against Rupala.

Let us tell you that on April 13, in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, the Rajput community had demonstrated expressing their displeasure over the controversial statement of Purushottam Rupala, the BJP candidate from Rajkot, Gujarat in the Lok Sabha elections. Under the banner of Karni Sena, people of the society took out a rally and protested at the Collectorate. During this, Rupala's effigy was burnt. After burning the effigy, the people of the society had taken an oath not to vote for BJP in this election, considering Agni as a witness for Rupala not getting her ticket. National President of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena Mahipal Singh Makrana has demanded cancellation of Rupala's ticket.

It is oteworthy that a video of Rupala's comments went viral on social media on March 22, immediately after which she apologized. However, a complaint was filed to the Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat claiming that Rupala violated the model code of conduct. Voting for all 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat will be held in the third phase on May 7 and counting of votes will take place on June 4.
