Mumbai: Aryan Khan’s bail plea in the drugs case has been postponed to Wednesday, October 13. Today, senior counsel Amit Desai was seen representing Aryan for his bail hearing. Interestingly, the advocate has been previously associated with Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Amit Desai had defended Salman in the controversial 2002 hit-and-run case.

Amit Desai had represented Salman Khan for his bail hearing in 2015, challenging a lower court’s conviction of the actor, sentencing him to five years rigorous imprisonment. Salman Khan was granted bail on a sum of Rs 30,000 in May 2015. During his arguments defending Salman, the senior lawyer had stated that "The investigating agency was bent on collecting evidence to establish the charges of drunkenness and driving" and that the testimony of witnesses was "fabricated to suit the prosecution case of consumption of alcohol." On December 10, 2015, Salman Khan was acquitted of all charges, once again, while he was represented by Amit Desai.

Cut to Aryan Khan’s case involving his bail application, advocate Amit Desai had stated, “We are in the hands of the court. To see justice is to be done. Admitted fact that nothing was found on Aryan Khan. NCB argued bail last week. So plea (sic) may be heard tomorrow. Question of my liberty at stake.” Special prosecutor Sethna from NCB's side had asked for time to reply to all the bail applications. And it was ruled that Aryan’s bail plea will be heard on October 13.

Previously, senior advocate Satish Manshinde had defended Aryan Khan’s custody in court. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had asked for further custody of the 23-year-old, but the court had rejected the same and sent Aryan Khan to judicial custody for 14 days.
