IPL 2022 / Faf Du Plessis, Josh Hazlewood Star As RCB Beat LSG By 18 Runs

In the 31st match of IPL 2022, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs. There was a target of 182 runs in front of Lucknow, in response to which the team could score only 163 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and lost the match. Krunal Pandya top scored with 42 runs. Hazlewood took 4 wickets in RCB's victory.


This was RCB's 5th win in 7 matches. So far the team has lost only 2 matches. At the same time, this is Lucknow's third defeat in 7 matches. KL Rahul's captaincy team has won 4 matches.


Earlier, batting after losing the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 181 for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Faf du Plessis played the highest innings of 96 runs. Jason Holder and Dushmantha Chamira took 2 wickets each for LSG.


Pandya missed half century

In this match, Krunal Pandya was promoted to number 4 batting and he showed a great game and scored 42 runs in 28 balls. Krunal's wicket came in the account of Glenn Maxwell and his catch was caught by Shahbad at deep midwicket.

Harshal overtakes Vinay Kumar

With a wicket in the match against LSG, Harshal Patel became the second highest wicket-taker for RCB in IPL. He broke the record of R Vinay Kumar (72). The record for taking most wickets for Bengaluru is held by Yuzvendra Chahal (139).


Rahul out on review

KL Rahul was dismissed for 30 off 24 balls by Harshal Patel. On the last ball of the 8th over, there was a slight appeal for a keeper catch against Rahul. However, the umpire refused to give out. RCB took the review. In the ultra edge, it was seen that the ball had gone to the keeper after hitting the bat and Rahul returned to the pavilion after getting out.


LSG performance in Power Play

Chasing the target, Lucknow started poorly. Quinton de Kock (3) lost his wicket in the third over off Hazlewood's delivery. In the 5th over, Hazlewood showed the way to the pavilion by dismissing Manish Pandey (6). In the power play, LSG scored 44 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.


Rahul overtakes Kohli

KL Rahul has completed his 6,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this feat with the 23rd run of his innings. Rahul became the 51st player in the world and the 10th player in India to score 6000 runs in a quick format. Along with this, he has also broken the record of Virat Kohli. Rahul has become the fastest Indian player to score 6000 runs in T20. Rahul made this record in 166 innings, while Kohli played 184 innings.


Holder does not answer

Jason Holder bowled amazingly for LSG in this match. He took 2 wickets giving only 25 runs in 4 overs. He took the wickets of Suyash Prabhudesai (10) and Faf du Plessis (96). In the last over of RCB's innings, Jason gave 4 runs and also took 1 wicket.

After losing the first 4 wickets at 62, RCB's team looked in trouble, but Faf du Plessis and Shahbaz Ahmed added 70 runs in 48 balls for the 5th wicket. The partnership ended with the wicket of Shahbad. He returned to the pavilion after being run out. He scored 26 runs in 22 balls.


Shahbad Ahmed has consistently performed well for Bangalore this season. He has so far scored a total of 171 runs in 7 innings with an average of 43 and a strong strike rate of 147.41.


RCB's poor performance in power play

Batting first after losing the toss, RCB got off to a bad start. In the very first over, Dushmanth Chamira took two wickets in two consecutive balls. On the 5th ball of the over, he dismissed Anuj Rawat (4) and Virat Kohli (0) on the next ball. Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell added 37 runs in 26 balls for the third wicket, but in the sixth over, Maxwell also lost his wicket to Krunal Pandya. RCB's score was 47/3 in the power play.

Virat Kohli out for zero

Kohli went to cut the ball, but at backward point, Deepak Dudda jumped in the air and caught Kamak. After the wicket of Kohli, the entire Lucknow team erupted with joy.
