Muharram 2022 / Major accident in Jamnagar two people died due to electrocution in Tajiya procession

Muharram 2022: On the eve of Muharram, two people died and 10 others were injured due to electrocution during a Tazia procession being taken out in Jamnagar city of Gujarat. The police gave this information on Tuesday. An official of the B-division police station said that the incident happened around 11.15 pm on Monday when the procession was passing through Dharanagar locality of the city. The people of the Muslim community celebrate Muharram in memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, in the battle of Karbala.

Accident happened after touching electric wire

Tazia, a small replica of Imam Hussain's tomb, got electrocuted after it touched an electric wire, injuring 12 people, the official said. He told that as soon as he touched the wire of Tazia, a spark was seen coming out from its end. People who came in contact with Tazia got electric shock. All 12 people were taken to a government hospital, where doctors declared two dead. The deceased have been identified as Asif Yunus Bhai Malik (23) and Mohammad Waheed (25), the official said. Tazia is usually made from bamboo and decorated with colored lights and paper.

On Sunday, 31 July, the month of Muharram 2022 officially began in India. It ends on 9 August. It is said that in the month of Muharram, Prophet Imam Hussain was martyred in the battle of Karbala. The Tajia is a replica of Imam Hussain's tomb, and is built in many forms and sizes. The word Tazia is derived from the Arabic word aza which means remembrance of the dead. Members of the Muslim community, accompanied by tajiyas, play drums in the procession and raise slogans of Hussain.

According to the Islamic calendar, Muharram is the beginning of the new year and the first month of the Islamic year. It is one of the most auspicious months and holds great importance among Muslims. According to Islamic beliefs, during the month of Muharram, the battle of Karbala took place in which Hazrat Imam Hussain was martyred in the 10th Muharram. This is the reason why Muharram is celebrated with mourning, and there is sadness among Muslims around the world.
