Bengaluru news: A woman and her two-and-a-half-year-old son were killed when an under-construction pillar of 'Namma Metro' (Bengaluru Metro) collapsed on Outer Ring Road near HBR Layout in Bengaluru. The woman's husband was also injured in the incident. The incident took place at around 11 am on Tuesday when TMT bars used for the construction of Metro pillars fell on his scooter. The height of the pillar is said to be more than 40 feet and the weight is several tonnes.

'Mother-son were brought to hospital in critical condition'

The people present on the spot immediately took the mother and son to the nearest hospital. Both died in the accident. The deceased have been identified as 25-year-old Tejaswini and her son Vihaan. The doctors who treated Tejaswini and Vihaan said that they suffered serious head injuries, while Vihaan also suffered chest injuries. The doctor said, "He was brought to the hospital in a very critical condition. We tried our best to save him, but he could not survive."

Police said they have registered a case and investigation is on. After the accident, there was a traffic jam around the spot for some time.
