Team India: English county side Kent on Friday announced that they have signed India pacer Navdeep Saini for three matches in the County Championship and five matches in the Royal London Cup. The 29-year-old has represented India in 2 Tests, 8 ODIs and 11 T20 Internationals with 2, 6 and 13 wickets respectively.

He was last seen playing for India during the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka last year. Saini plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and represents Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. Saini has become the fifth Indian player after Cheteshwar Pujara (Sussex), Washington Sundar (Lancashire), Krunal Pandya (Warwickshire) and Umesh Yadav (Middlesex) to sign up for the English domestic cricket season in 2022.

Will show strength in the county

Kent also said that pacer Saini will wear his favorite shirt number 96 and follow in Rahul Dravid's footsteps to become the second Indian Test cricketer to play for the county. Saini said, "It is a wonderful opportunity to play county cricket and I am looking forward to give my 100 per cent for Kent." Kent's Director of Cricket Paul Downton said, "In a year when wicket-taking has become difficult, we are excited to have Navdeep in our team."

Saini took 3/55 in India's second innings in a four-day first-class warm-up match against Leicestershire in June, but was not included in the rescheduled fifth Test against England at Edgbaston.
