Navgachia market of Bhagalpur was shaken by the explosion of gas cylinders on Friday. The explosion of 21 cylinders one after the other caused panic in the area far and wide. A lot of items were burnt to ashes in the flames and there was chaos in the entire area. Neighbors ran away leaving the house. Police administration team and fire brigade have been called to the spot. Efforts to control the fire began. At present the cause of the fire is not known. Illegal cylinder refilling is said to be the reason behind the blast.

Adjoining houses also caught fire in the incident. The fire was brought under control with the help of four fire brigade vehicles. The police have seized 63 cylinders from the spot. The landlord has fled leaving the house along with the family. SDO Yatendra Kumar Pal told that after registering an FIR against the landlord, he will be arrested. Police is probing how he had so many cylinders without any license.

Eyewitnesses said that at around 1:15 pm, a cylinder kept in the house of Ramchandra Sah in Noniapatti caught fire due to explosion in several nearby houses. In this, the things kept in the house were burnt to ashes. While extinguishing the fire, Ramchandra Sah's face also got scorched on the bad side. Two more persons are reported to have suffered burns. After the incident, Ramchandra along with the family and children has run away with the necessary papers of the house. Everything in his house was burnt to ashes in the fire. People said that during the incident several cylinders were also thrown into the river flowing nearby.

As the sound of the explosion increased, panic among the people also increased. At present, two people have been reported injured. Efforts are on to douse the fire with four fire tenders. SDO and SDPO are camping at the spot. The police have also seized 63 gas cylinders from the spot. A large number of police personnel have been deployed in the area. There is also talk of damage to the houses of nearby people.

63 cylinders kept in Communist Party office seized

SDO and SDPO have confiscated 63 gas cylinders kept in the Communist office. Some of the seized cylinders were empty while the rest were filled. The SDO has taken information about the cylinder from Sitaram Mahto of the Communist Party office. He told that Ashok Mahato brought a cylinder to his car and said that the fire had started. Keep it here, otherwise everything will explode. The whole city will be ruined. He has kept the same.

The SDO said that immediate attention is being given to extinguishing the fire. Where did the cylinder come from, it will be investigated. Apart from this, what the home owner was doing by keeping so many cylinders in the house, it will also be investigated. There is talk of refilling in the house. The gas cylinder is from Bharat Gas. Bharat Gas Agency will also be questioned. The culprits will be arrested and sent to jail.

Fire broke out in adjacent houses too

Two houses, including Sunil Laheri, also caught fire due to the cylinder blast. There was panic due to the sudden fire in the cylinder of Bharat Gas Agency. On the information of the people, city council president representative Premsagar alias W Yadav, councilor Munna Bhagat, Guddu Bhagat, Mukesh Rana also reached. A large number of people including SDO Yatendra Kumar Pal, SDPO Navgachiya Dilip Kumar, city police station chief Bharat Bhushan, circle officer reached the spot.
