The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has now entered the hijab controversy in Karnataka. The board has challenged the Karnataka High Court's decision on the basis of Islam. He says that the High Court has misinterpreted the Quran and Hadith.

In fact, the Karnataka High Court in its judgment on March 15 had said that hijab is not a compulsory practice of Islam. Along with this, the High Court had upheld the decision of the Karnataka government to ban the hijab in schools and colleges.

Till now this matter was being taken up by the girl students and their affiliated organizations. Several petitions related to this are pending in the Supreme Court. Recently, the Supreme Court had rejected the request for an early hearing in the matter in view of the examinations. The top court had said that this controversy has nothing to do with the examinations. The court had also urged the counsel for the petitioner not to sensitize the matter.

All India Muslim Personal Law Board is a non-governmental organization formed in 1973. It is working for the protection of personal law of Muslims in the country and to protect other Muslim interests.

PFI has expressed support

The Popular Front of India (PFI) has announced to stand with the Muslim girls of the state over the ban on hijab in educational institutions in Karnataka. Giving information about the resolution passed in the Malappuram National Executive Council meeting, the PFI on Friday also condemned the alleged ban on Muslim religious symbols. The PFI said in a statement, “The banning of only Muslim religious symbols by the BJP government in Karnataka makes it clear that it has a divisive political objective. Unfortunately, the High Court also failed to observe this and decided against a practice that Muslim women have been using for many centuries.

Told the decision of the High Court against the constitutional values

The statement further said that the Karnataka High Court's decision upholding the ban on hijab is completely against the values of the Constitution of our country and the universal principle of religious freedom. PFI said that this decision of the High Court will further encourage social boycott in the country and will become another excuse for religious persecution.

Second accused arrested for threatening judges who gave verdict on hijab

Another accused, Jamal Mohammed Usmani, who threatened to kill the judges of the Karnataka High Court who delivered the verdict on the hijab case, has also been apprehended by the Bangalore Police from Tamil Nadu. Earlier, the police had caught Kovai Rahmatullah. Both of them are members of Thowheed Jamaat, an Islamic organization based in Tamil Nadu. In the threatening video, both had announced that judges who rejected the plea of Udupi girls for hijab would be put to death.
