India-Pakistan War: The morning of 7 May 2025 set a new precedent in Indian military history when India, under Operation Sindoor, launched decisive attacks on terrorist and military bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). This action was not only a reflection of India's zero tolerance policy against terrorism, but also a strong message in regional geopolitics.Operation Sindoor: Elimination of terror basesOperation Sindoor was a response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, in which 26 innocent people were killed. The operation was carried out under extensive preparation and military coordination by Indian intelligence agencies. The Indian Air Force caused heavy damage by targeting military airports, radar systems and terrorist training camps in Rahim Yar Khan. According to the army, more than 100 terrorists of organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in the operation.Pakistan's retaliation and India's defencePakistan made a failed attempt to target Indian military installations from 8 to 10 May. However, the Indian Army's 'Akash Teer' air defence system foiled the enemy's plans. The vigilance and preparedness of the Indian Army once again showed that India no longer only reacts, but strikes at the source of terror under an aggressive strategy.Pakistan defeated at China's doorstepAfter this precise and effective military operation by India, Pakistan's strategic position has been badly weakened at the international level. In this situation, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is now going on a visit to China, where he will hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. This visit is considered to be very important strategically.According to sources, Dar will also meet Afghanistan's acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. Regional security, trade and the situation after the Indo-Pak conflict will be discussed in the trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of these three countries.China's Role: A Strategic EquationChina has praised the ceasefire between India and Pakistan after the recent conflict, but its support to Pakistan is nothing new. Analysts believe that Pakistan is now once again looking towards China for economic aid, debt relief and military support. This situation reflects Pakistan's weak economy and its isolation on the international stage.Pakistan's Diplomatic ChallengesOperation Sindoor has not only dealt a blow to Pakistan militarily, but has also raised questions on its foreign policy and strategic thinking. India's strong response and its strong position on global platforms have forced Pakistan to now seek refuge from a 'powerful friend'. Ishaq Dar bowing at China's doorstep is a sign of that desperation. It will be interesting to see in the coming days whether Pakistan will be able to get the support it desperately needs from China, or the echo of Operation Sindoor will change its strategic direction.
