PBKS vs LSG Live Score, IPL 2022 / Lucknow beat Punjab by 20 runs, move to third spot

In the 42nd match of IPL 2022, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Punjab Kings by 20 runs. PBKS had a target of 154 runs, in response to which the team could only score 133/8 in 20 overs and lost the match. Punjab's batting order was a complete flop. Jonny Bairstow (32) was the top scorer.


This is Lucknow's sixth win in 9 matches. The team captained by KL has lost only 3 matches so far. At the same time, this is Punjab's fifth defeat in 9 matches. PBKS has won only 4 matches so far.


Earlier, batting after losing the toss, Lucknow scored 153 for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Quinton de Kock scored 46 runs, while Deepak Hooda's bat scored 34 runs. Kagiso Rabada took 4 wickets for PBKS.


Mohsin Khan showed his strength

Young fast bowler Mohsin Khan took 3 wickets in his 4 overs. He took the wickets of Livingstone (18), Kagiso Rabada (2) and Rahul Chahar (4). Mohsin hails from Uttar Pradesh and was bought by Lucknow for Rs 20 lakh in the mega auction.


Krunal took 2 wickets

Krunal Pandya bowled amazingly in the match, taking 2 wickets in 4 overs. He dismissed Bhanuka Rajapakse (7) and Jitesh Sharma (2). In his spell, he spent only 11 runs at an economy of 2.80.


  1. Krunal took the wicket of Jitesh in the 14th over of the innings without giving any runs.
  2. Liam Livingstone scored 18 runs in 16 balls and was dismissed by Mohsin Khan.
  3. Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow added 30 runs in 25 balls for the fourth wicket.
  4. Ravi Bishnoi took 1 wicket for 40 runs in 4 overs.

Both Punjab openers got out cheaply

Chasing the target, Punjab started well. Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan added 35 runs for the first wicket. In the 5th over, Chamira gave Lucknow the first breakthrough by dismissing Mayank (25). KL Rahul caught the Punjab captain at mid-off. After this Shikhar Dhawan scored only 5 runs in 15 balls on the very first ball of the 7th over and got bowled by Ravi Bishnoi.

  • Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 9 runs in 7 balls and was dismissed by Krunal Pandya.

Brilliant bowling from Rabada

Kagiso Rabada took 4 wickets in 4 overs while bowling brilliantly in the match. He dismissed LSG captain KL Rahul (6), Krunal Pandya (7), Ayush Badoni (4) and Dushmantha Chameera (17). The wickets of Pandya and Badoni were taken by Kagiso in his one over. He sent Krunal to the pavilion in the first of the 15th over and dismissed Ayush on the 5th ball.

  • Rahul Chahar took 2 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs.
  • Chamira (17) hit six sixes in the first two balls of Rabada in the 19th over, but was dismissed on the third ball.

Stoinis fails again

In the match, Marcus Stoinis was dismissed after scoring only 1 run in 4 balls. He was dismissed by Rahul Chahar caught by his ball. Stoinis has not been seen in color in IPL 2022 so far. He has scored only 73 runs in 5 innings. Marcus Stoinis was bought by the Lucknow team for Rs 9.20 crore.


De Kock and Hooda pair

Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda added 85 runs in 58 balls for the second wicket. This pair was increasing the problems for Punjab. This partnership was broken by Sandeep Sharma by dismissing de Kock. He returned to the pavilion after playing a fine innings of 46 runs in 37 balls. His catch was also caught by keeper Jitesh.


Deepak Hooda was also run out in the very next over. Hooda was run out on a direct throw by Bairstow and sent off the field. He scored 34 runs in 28 balls. After this, on the first ball of the 15th over, Krunal Pandya also gave his wicket to Rabada in an attempt to hit a big shot. Pandya scored 7 runs in 7 balls and was caught by Shikhar Dhawan at long on.


Lokesh Rahul disappointed

Batting first after losing the toss, Lucknow started poorly. In the third over, captain KL Rahul lost his wicket after scoring only 6 runs in 11 balls. His wicket came in the account of Kagiso Rabada and was caught by keeper Jitesh Sharma.
