TV / Pearl V Puri sent to 14-day judicial custody in alleged rape case

Mumbai: Television actor Pearl Puri, accused of sexually abusing a minor girl, has been sent to a 14-day judicial custody by a local court in Vasai. The 31-year-old actor was arrested late Friday evening.

Pearl was remanded to judicial custody and booked for rape and molestation under section of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was arrested by the Waliv police late Friday evening under IPC section 376 AB, r/w POCSO Act 4, 8, 12,19, 21.

"Puri has been sent to a judicial custody for 14 days and he has not been granted bail," said Sanjay Patil, DCP Zone 2, Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV).

Pearl's friend Karishma Tanna also shared a photo with him and wrote, "Satyamev Jayate. Truth wins and he did win. #gotbail @pearlvpuri #istandwithpearl #truthneverhides #pvp (sic)"

Producer Vikaas Kalantri, Ruchikaa Kapoor, Mushtaq Sheikh and many others commented on Karishma's post by writing, "#IstandwithPearl."

Earlier, Ekta Kapoor, too, wrote a long note stating that Pearl is being framed wrongly. Ekta, who has worked with Pearl, said that she spoke to Pearl's co-actor and confirmed the news. Reportedly, one of Pearl's married female co-actor, along with her husband lodged a complaint against him for allegedly raping and molesting their 11-year-old daughter on the pretext of clicking a picture.

Nia Sharma, Adhvik Mahajan, Aly Goni, Krystle D'souza, Anita Hassanandani and many other actors have offered their support publicly to Pearl V Puri.
