In a statement issued on Sunday, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said, 305 people have been arrested from eight districts of UP. In this regard, 13 FIRs have been registered in nine districts. Giving district-wise details, Kumar said, 92 people have been arrested in Prayagraj, 71 in Saharanpur, 51 in Hathras, 34 each in Ambedkar Nagar and Moradabad, 15 in Firozabad, six in Aligarh and two in Jalaun.

Giving details of the FIRs registered in the districts, Kumar said that three FIRs each have been registered in Prayagraj and Saharanpur and one each in Firozabad, Aligarh, Hathras, Moradabad, Ambedkarnagar, Kheri and Jalaun and 300 accused have been arrested. He said that earlier on June 3, a similar attempt was made in Kanpur and even then vigilance instructions were given, due to which peace remained in most of the districts of the state. On Saturday, the police destroyed the houses of two accused of violence in Saharanpur with a bulldozer. According to the news received from Saharanpur, the police administration identified the two accused who created a ruckus and started a bulldozer on their illegal property.

Saharanpur Superintendent of Police (City) Rajesh Kumar told PTI that the two main accused who created a nuisance in the CCTV footage, along with the municipal team, raided the houses of Muzammil resident Rahat Colony 62 Futa Road and Abdul Wakir resident Khata Khedi. Bulldozers were used and their illegal constructions were demolished.

People raised slogans and pelted stones after Friday prayers in several districts of the state, including Prayagraj and Saharanpur, over alleged controversial remarks of suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma against Prophet Mohammad.

A senior official of the Uttar Pradesh Police Headquarters in Lucknow said sloganeering was reported after prayers from Saharanpur, Moradabad, Rampur and Lucknow districts.
