Poonam Pandey: Poonam Pandey, who was supposed to play Mandodari in the grand Luvkush Ramlila to be held in Delhi, has been removed from the role. The committee informed Poonam Pandey of this decision in a letter, apologizing, and wishing her a bright future.Reason behind the decisionLavkush Ramlila Committee President Arjun Kumar and General Secretary Subhash Goyal stated that Poonam Pandey had agreed to play Mandodari at the committee's invitation. However, after her name was announced, strong objections were received from various institutions and sections of society. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and figures like Computer Baba strongly opposed the decision.Intensity of ProtestThe Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) wrote a letter demanding Poonam Pandey's removal from the role. The letter stated that Ramlila is not merely a theatrical performance, but a vibrant part of Indian culture and traditions. Meanwhile, Computer Baba sharply commented that Poonam Pandey should be cast as Surpanakha instead of Mandodari. He also added that the Ramlila Committee should discern who is best suited for which role.Committee's letter and future plansThe Luvkush Ramlila Committee, in a letter to Poonam Pandey, said, "Please forgive us."
