Not only this, only tea and biscuits will be served to the person who comes to meet an officer in the Chief Minister's Office. The Chief Minister's Office has issued an order letter in this regard. It has been said in the order that the superintendents and security officers working in different branches of the Chief Minister's Office will now be able to fill slips only for tea and biscuits.

Manpreet Badal had stopped tea-pakodas

During the previous Congress government of the state, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal had also put a notice outside his office while cutting expenses that please do not ask for tea. He had also got tea and pakodas closed in his office.

Punjab has a debt of Rs 2.63 lakh crore

Punjab is currently facing a huge financial crisis. Before the budget session in June this year, the Mann government, in a 73-page white paper on the state's financial condition in the assembly, had said that Punjab was in a financial crisis and debt trap. In the document presented by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, the previous governments were responsible for the fiscal mess. The document said that the previous governments of Punjab had been fiscally negligent instead of implementing the necessary reforms. The current effective outstanding debt of Punjab is Rs 2.63 lakh crore, which is 45.88 per cent of the GDP. The current debt situation of the state is the worst in the country.

AAP government trying to improve the situation

The Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab is trying to improve the economic condition of the state by cutting expenses. It is a big challenge for the government to get the state out of this crisis. For this, the government is taking every small and big step. Recently one MLA one pension scheme was implemented in Punjab. Now MLAs will get pension only for one term. After the governor's approval on this bill, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had said in a tweet that this step would save the state government about Rs 19.53 crore annually. This will save a lot of public tax money, which will be spent on public welfare. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema had said that now the leaders will not be given free Rewari.

Punjab government had sought a package of Rs 1 lakh crore from the Center

CM Bhagwant Mann had sought a package of Rs 1 lakh crore from the central government regarding the increasing debt on Punjab. Bhagwant Mann met PM Narendra Modi in Delhi on 25 March after taking oath as CM. During this, he had demanded a package of Rs 1 lakh crore from the PM. This demand was made exactly when Punjab had announced to provide 300 units of electricity per month free of cost to every household. At the same time, it was told in a study by the Reserve Bank that Punjab is one of the five states in the country where the economic crisis is serious. The study warned that this crisis could deepen if the schemes with free facilities continued. After coming to power, the Mann government had taken a loan of Rs 8,000 crore after three months. However, the AAP government has also taken off a loan of Rs 10,500 crore.
