Operation Sindoor: The Monsoon Session of Parliament 2025 is at its peak, but this session has so far been in the news due to uproar and opposition protests. The session had to be repeatedly adjourned due to sloganeering and protests by opposition parties. The government, in response to a question by SP MP Ramji Lal Suman in the Rajya Sabha, said that the objective of Operation Sindoor was to destroy the terrorist infrastructure operating from Pakistan and neutralize terrorists likely to infiltrate India.MP Suman had asked whether Operation Sindoor was launched under international pressure, and what effect did the sudden ceasefire announcement have on the morale of the army and public sentiment. The government clarified that the operation was launched solely in the interest of India's national security and was not the result of any international pressure.India's targeted action and Pakistan's responseThe government said that under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army took precise and measured action on terrorist bases in Pakistan. During this, Pakistan tried to target Indian civilian areas, to which the Indian Armed Forces responded strongly. The Pakistani army suffered heavy losses in the Indian Army's retaliatory action. On 10 May 2025, Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations contacted the Indian counterpart and requested to stop firing and military activities. Later that day, a ceasefire was agreed between the two sides, after which the ceasefire was announced.Opposition's questions and government's responseThe opposition raised many questions about Operation Sindoor. SP MP Ramji Lal Suman questioned the sudden announcement of ceasefire and said that the Indian Army was achieving significant success, but the announcement of ceasefire affected the morale of the army and it was against the sentiments of the people of the country. In response, the government said that the decision to ceasefire was taken to reduce tension between the two sides and establish peace in the region. Also, it was also clarified that India's action was against terrorism, not against the Pakistani people.Effect of Pahalgam attackThe Pahalgam attack became a major cause of tension between India and Pakistan. After this attack, India imposed many sanctions on Pakistan and talked about taking tough steps. Operation Sindoor was a decisive step in this direction. This operation not only destroyed the terrorist hideouts, but also gave the message that India would not compromise with its security in any way.
